How To Create Real Success Without Exhausting Yourself

Do you have a wish list?

Do you remember the times when you were a child and wrote your wish list for Santa? And how excited you were when the gifts actually arrived?

Well, that’s how I feel every day. I have a wishlist hanging over my desktop, and I am able to cross off daily — meanwhile, I also add daily.

It wasn’t always like that. I used to believe that success is a result of willpower and that I have to hustle and push to get what I want.

Turns out that there is a way better option available: Dropping into soul guidance, and love.

There was a point where I had enough of the pushing. I was quite successful in my business, could work and travel when I wanted and had a loving relationship with my husband. Still, I felt like something was off.

I was wondering why it was so hard for me to feel gratitude for what I had and why I always felt that there has to be something that can fill the void inside of me.

Until it hit me like a ton of bricks:

I was searching success in the wrong places – OUTSIDE OF ME.

I considered myself connected to soul and the universe, but still, I was craving things that were outside of me instead of cultivating fulfillment inside of me.

Everything has changed since then.

I think it is one of the most beautiful paradoxes in the universe (and I used to HATE it because I didn’t understand it):

As soon as you don’t need the thing that you think you want anymore, it will appear naturally in your life.

If you’re coming from a place of desperation, you actually block the things you wish for from coming in.

Letting go of the need for success makes space for everything to appear.

And to let go of the need, you have to understand one thing: There is nothing that you really need, except oxygen, food and water and maybe a roof over your head.

You want the things you want because you think they make you feel a certain way.

But you can cultivate the feeling right now inside of yourself:

Happiness, Peace, Love, Warmth — you are always able to shift how you feel in an instant.

As soon as you feel the feeling you desire, you don’t need something outside of you to give you the feeling. You are independent of what you have or others do.

And that is the moment everything falls into place as you always have imagined it.

Your wishlist will become your best friend instead of being a dread and you will experience gratitude first hand instead of scribbling down a gratitude list each night and wondering why you’re not feeling it.

  • What do you feel is missing in your life right now?
  • Can you find it in yourself / give it to yourself / let it go?

Pondering and/or journaling on these questions might give you a hint from which outside circumstances you think your success depends and also release you from the pressure of “getting” them in order to make you feel good.

Accepting yourself as you are is also a big step in creating REAL success. The success that forms inside of you and then reflects on the outside.
